About The Event
This retreat is a hands-on introduction to all things spinning. Led by East Coast Spinning Guru Lorna Ash, you will discuss the properties of wool and how they can affect your spinning and textile projects. You will learn to spin on a drop spindle, and gain skill and confidence in spinning singles and plying to make a 2 ply yarn.
You will look at a beautiful local fleece, learn to card that fleece, and then spin it on your drop spindle. You will visit a local sheep farm to get up close and personal with some beautiful fibre sheep.
You will receive a guided demonstration of how to spin on a spinning wheel AND you'll get to test drive spinning on a wheel . You will wet finish your hand spun yarn and discuss how to use hand spun yarn in various textile projects.
